This publication is an attempt to answer the question to what extent ancient methods and traditions of human sacrifice are reflected in medieval and modern Judeo-Christian traditions. The first part of the book focuses on the rituals of human sacrifice in ancient times, including the cults of Middle Eastern cultures and Ancient Greece and the controversy against it, as well as on the transformations of sacrifice in Israelite-Jewish and Christian cultures. The second part focuses on the Middle Ages and modernity, and explores the issue of human sacrifice in the Jewish and Christian traditions, as well as the debate about euthanasia and the death penalty in the Western world
