Kuvi is a Dravidian language spoken by the southern branch of the Kondh tribes in the Koraput district of Orissa and adjoining regions of Andhra Pradesh. It is closely related to Kui, spoken by the northern Kondhs. In a more analytical classification of Dravidian, Kuvi is considered member of Gondi-Kui, South-Central (Telugu-Kui) Dravidian, Southern Dravidian. The quality of the book is guaranteed by the Foreword written by Thomas Burrow (1909-1986), co-author of the Dravidian etymological dictionary together with M.B. Emeneau.
