Fireflies and Other UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles)
William Wagner, William P. Sloan
This volume — "FIREFLIES" — is the sequel to "LIGHTNING BUGS," the latter being the history of intelligence-gathering during the Vietnam War by the use of unmanned, remotely-piloted vehicles (RPVs). In the two decades following the wartime challenge met by RPVs in Vietnam, great advances in design and operation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have been made. From those challenging 'can do' days have evolved a whole new flock of unmanned 'birds.' Today's UAVs fly higher and longer—and carry ever more sophisticated payloads which return with or transmit essential intelligence information.
"FIREFLIES" is the record of new technical ground which has been broken in the past two decades.
