Simply put, I bought this book to finish the journey. I read
the first of Lumley's Cthulhu books almost 40 years ago as a natural
progression of the original Lovecraft stories. Somewhere along the way,
other authors, genres, and life-in-general took me away from this series
and I missed this final book. When I saw it recently on Amazon, I
decided it was time to complete the cycle (yes, a weak double entendre -
sorry). I don't think this is the best book in this series by Lumley.
But, he does what is needed to get to the end and present an
appropriately sensible conclusion. No spoilers in this review, but if
you've read Lumley's series in order, then you'll likely find some of
your favorite characters in at least a 'walk-on' appearance in this
farewell novel.
