What's a wizard to do when he's asked to go and 'take care of' a member of the Wizards' Council that's been deemed a traitor? The same Wizards' Council that's been hounding and punishing him for years?
When that wizard is Michael Hart, the answer is to gladly accept the assignment after discovering that his punishment was primarily from the hands of the traitorous Council member and his cronies.
But the simple 'take care of the Council member' mission devolves into much more as Michael finds himself tasked with helping to defend against an invasion of the country by those who decimated the economy. He also discovers that he's changing in ways he never anticipated, more ways than one.
