Narrative of the War in Germany and France in 1813 and 1814
Charles William Vane of Londonderry
Charles Vane's, the 3rd Marquess of Londonderry, extensive first hand account of his time spent in the military during the Napoleonic Wars.
It was during this section of the Napoleonic Wars that Londonderry greatly developed his military career, starting with the Corunna Campaign. In this campaign Vane commanded a brigade of cavalry, and played a prominent role in the clash in which Lefebvre-Desnouettes was taken prisoner. Vane was also part of Wellington's Spanish Campaign, which is detailed vividly in this work.
Outside of his military work Vane was a prominent politician and diplomat, and was a great-grandfather of Winston Churchill.
